Our long-time, good friends, the Dettra's, have introduced us many times to Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pa and it beauty. Formerly the private gardens of the Duponts who donated it to a private foundation in 1946, it is pen to the public and can be viewed on its website at https://longwoodgardens.org/history.
When in the area, check out closeby Winterthur (pronounced “winter-tour”), founded by Henry Francis du Pont, Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts, showing early America and the du Pont family’s life here. Its 60-acre naturalistic garden is among the country’s best, and its research library serves scholars from around the world. http://www.winterthur.org/
